TWUniversal Search Makes Its Debut

We all know and love Google, the search engine that helps us find--with a single search--books, articles, websites, photos, videos and more. Wouldn't it be great if there was something similar for TWU Libraries? As of today there is--TWUniversal Search.

TWUniversal Search provides "one-stop shopping" for the discovery and delivery of local and remote resources--including books, journal articles and all manner of digital objects. Although TWUniversal Search does not search everything (including some journal articles, for example), what it does search is vast. A search for "heart disease", for example, yields dissertations, articles, audio and video materials, books, conference proceedings, e-books, images, newspaper articles and websites--and that's just for starters.

Now in beta testing, TWUniversal Search is intended to augment, not replace, the trusty TWU Libraries catalog and databases. The official launch of TWUniversal Search is scheduled to happen in March 2012, but you can use it now (reach it from the TWU Libraries homepage, at the bottom of the maroon column on the left). We'd love to know what you think.

TWUniversal Search is your search tool, so your experience with it matters. Take it out for a spin, kick the tires and let us know how it goes--what works for you and what doesn't, ways we can improve it, and anything else you think we should know. You can submit your thoughts
on the TWUniversal Search homepage under TWUniversal Thoughts.

For more information on TWUniversal Search see TWUniversal FAQ or contact TWUniversal Search committee members Brandy Klug (at bklug@twu.edu) or Johnathan Wilson (at jwilson16@twu.edu).

Enjoy.
