In conjunction with Black History Month the Blagg-Huey Library on the Denton campus of TWU is proud to display an assortment of African artifacts from the private collection of LaMargo Branch, staff member with the library's Interlibrary Loan service.LaMargo, a Blagg-Huey employee since 2003, has been adding to her collection for more than 25 years. One of her favorite pieces, a carved depiction of a Massai warrior (photo left by Greg Hardin), takes pride of place in a display which also features a Massai headdress from Kenya; a Baluba Mask and Kpanlogo Drum from Ghana; a Family Tree carving; a fertility doll and more--just a portion of LaMargo's extensive collection.
LaMargo's pieces--as well as Zambian dresses from the collection of Joanna Reagan--are available for viewing in the Blagg-Huey Library's first-floor lobby during regular library hours through February 29th.
